GHM Communications launch new technologies at Bournemouth 2011
Plus Samsung’s Dr Smart makes his UK debut
On stand S82, telecoms technology provider GHM Communications will be launching a range of new applications for care homes that include real time tracking of patients and CCTV in the home.
The patient tracking is the first of its’ kind developed specifically for the care sector and works through a simple wrist band worn by the patient or guest. Care home owners can locate wearers at all times and an alarm is also activated if the band is laid horizontal, suggesting the wearer has fallen.
The CCTV allows staff to view corridors, bedrooms and communal areas of a home on a PC or lap top making it easy and quick to check any alarms sounded by patients without leaving their post.
Plus, the Samsung patient care system, Dr. Smart, makes its’ Galaxy Tab debut on the GHM Communications stand. By using the application on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, staff can conveniently retrieve patient lists and medical information needed for the day’s rounds.
GHM Communications will also be exhibiting the latest WIFI enabled remote telephones, allowing staff to be contacted anywhere in the care environment and make emergency calls on the go.
They will also be demonstrating a fully integrated nurse call system that delivers alerts direct to the remote WIFI handsets, eliminating the need for traditional noisy wallboards.
GHM offer an infrastructure that makes it easy and cost effective for care homes to add many different applications to the same WIFI backbone, making solutions such as nurse call, patient tracking and wireless telephones cheaper and completely integrated.
The same WIFI technology means care home owners can also offer residents in room services such as telephone lines with no fixed rental periods or set up costs, cheaper calls, free WIFI internet access and on demand TV.
Neil McManus of GHM Communications says: “We are delighted to be making patient tracking and CCTV accessible to the care sector. It’s all about linking different technologies so they work better for both the care home owner and resident.”
