GHM Communications launch resident tracking to the care sector

Wireless technology experts to the care sector GHM Communications, have launched a revolutionary method of tracking residents, staff and equipment.

The tracking is the first of its’ kind developed specifically for the care sector and works through a simple wrist band worn by the patient or resident. Using wireless technology, care home owners can locate wearers at all times, particularly when an alarm on the watch has been triggered by the resident. An alarm is also activated if the band is laid horizontal in unlikely locations, suggesting the wearer has fallen.

The technology can also track staff and medical equipment such as defibrillators in the event of an emergency.

Neil McManus of GHM Communications says: “This is a huge advancement from a panic button located in a bedroom or worn around the neck.

“It’s great to be able to offer something our customers genuinely need and the response has already been overwhelming.”

GHM install a WIFI infrastructure that makes it easy and very cost effective for care homes to introduce many different applications such as the real time tracking. Other wireless technologies include nurse call, wireless telephones and CCTV.

The same WIFI technology means care home owners can also offer residents in room services such as telephone lines with no fixed rental periods or set up costs, cheaper calls, free WIFI internet access and on demand TV.
